Finding time with God
Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the pace of life? Are you so busy that it is a struggle to find time with God?
First thing to remember is that this is one of Satan’s most subtle deceptions: to keep us perpetually “busy.” But our main aim as Christian should be serving God, and putting Him first, no matter what we are doing.
Although there were many who needed truth, forgiveness, and healing, in His brief ministry, Jesus made prayer a priority. God wants us to seek Him irrespective of our circumstances. Jesus appreciated Mary, that she has chosen what is better, and it would not be taken away from her (Luke 10:38-42).
You may wonder how can I make time for God when I barely have time for anything. Organise your day- Surely diving into the work of the day will bring more progress when you begin with prayer.
Good Morning with Jesus
Start the day with Jesus. Give God Priority. Commit the day to God in prayer, and asking for His help and guidance throughout the day. When your day feels too full, why don’t you take a faith step to schedule some extra prayer first, trusting Jesus to provide extra graceto do other responsibilities?
Good day with Jesus
Include Him in your daily activities. Instead of serving God when you have uninterrupted time, invite Him to be a part of your everyday life. Chat with Him, as you get ready for college/work; listen His voice as you do routine activities; seek His face on your journey. God isn’t interested in just being involved in the highlights of your life; invite Him into the entire thing, even the boring parts.
Tune your Radio– Turn on to Christian radio rather spending time watching superfluous stuff. Something as simple as turning on some uplifting and encouraging music or recorded message also can make all the difference in your day.
Take an alternative: When you think you have not time to open the Bible to read, listen to an audio Bible or repeat the memorised verses
Carry your Bible as you go– Carrying a Bible with you as you make your way, might be helpful to spend your spare time wisely.
Good night with Jesus
Seek His face when there is less distraction. Certainly you will build a secret history with Him. Seeking Him at night alone is a powerful way to seek Him in secret, when there is no one watching, no one noticing your love and fervency, and the sacrifices you make – where there is simply no reward from human beings.
“But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul” (Deuteronomy 4:29).
